Leading Candy Manufacturer Implements CSI MasterCard® Corporate Card to Manage Reimbursement of Spoiled Goods to Convenient Stores

A leading candy manufacturer wanted to move away from a paper check reimbursement program and transition to an integrated electronic credit card program to automate the process to purchase goods back from convenient stores in instances where their products shelf life had expired.

Business Needs: Leading candy manufacturer saw value and significant savings if a process could be implemented to transition from a labor intensive paper check reimbursement process to an automated electronic credit card reimbursement program to refund their merchants. The goal was to electronically facilitate reimbursement of expired goods to convenient store merchants through a credit card payment system to increase speed of payment, remove manual reconciliation processes and eliminate paper check reimbursement. To implement this process, this manufacturer sought the CSI MasterCard® Corporate Card system to customize a card program that could lock credit cards to work specifically at convenient stores only, for in-store use only, along with very specific card authorization control requirements. In addition, there was a need to capture a unique identifier at the point-of-sale in order to tie the electronic transaction data back to the job data that was tracked in their internal systems. Electronic integration was the final required component to seamlessly automate the reconciliation of transactions with internal systems.

Solution:
The CSI MasterCard® Corporate Card was implemented to over 5,000 territory representatives. Cards were fully customized to meet the required authorization specifications including restricting purchase limits, transaction times and locking cards for in store use at convenient stores only.
